The romantic escape over the hills to the beach. . . an inn capturing the spirit of 16th century England’s west country awaits you.

Barely 20 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, the hospitable Pelican Inn rests at Muir Beach in the sea-blown fog, among the pines and alders, the honeysuckle and jasmine … a lodging refuge between the ocean, Muir Woods and the Northern California National Recreational Area parks.

The Pelican opens its doors to you for the fellowship of its Tudor bar, country cooking, overnight lodging or for a getaway of carefree feasting and relaxation.

Christmas Eve

In the throes of fall it is often easy to get wrapped up in the warm colors and heavy foods so much that one forgets that Christmas is just around the corner. Christmas, for many, is a time for family and friends to reunite and celebrate each other. The children are showered in gifts, our stomachs are stuffed to the brim with home cooked meals and treats, and the air outside turns ice cold. The locals of Muir Beach bless us with their cheerful holiday caroling. The Piano in our snug is dusted off and tuned up so that any and all can join us in singing their favorite holiday carols.

The Pelican Inn will be hosting its annual Christmas Eve feast from 4:30 to 8:00 pm. Please make your reservations with our front desk @ 415 383-6000.

Christmas Day

We are open Christmas Day, serving our normal fare.

Boxing Day

Boxing day, the day after Christmas is always a busy one at the Inn. We will be open for our usual business hours 11:30 am to 9:00 pm and will be serving our Pub Grub menu only, all day.

Salty Walt will be playing traditional sea shanties and English & Scottish ballads at the pub. They believe nothing is better suited to a traditional
pub experience than a rousing sing-along!

Traditionally Boxing Day was the first weekday after Christmas when tradesmen, post-men, servants and errand boys would receive a “Christmas Box” from their employers. Beginning sometime in the 1830’s, the working class would expect to receive a Christmas box full of presents, money and often left over food as a sort of end of year bonus for their services.

In this modern era, Boxing Day has become a consumer minded holiday when many shoppes host massive sales throughout the world. At the Pelican Inn we take this opportunity to collect donations for folks who might need a Christmas Box of their own. We will have a donation box at the front desk where you can drop off a thoughtful gift for someone in need.

New Year’s Eve

After the excitement of Christmas wears off, the anticipation of the year to come begins to grow. Resolutions are formed, plans are laid and preparations are prepped. 2018 is sure to be a fantastic year at the Pelican Inn as we will be celebrating our 40th anniversary. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, we can’t deny a final sendoff of 2017.

New Year’s Eve at the Pelican Inn consists of a 3 course meal and a glass of champagne. Let us set the tone for your new year with an intimate dinner for you and your loved ones. Again, please make reservations with our Front desk @ 415 383 6000.
